Another successful Citizenship Ceremony

Published Date Written by Bradley Stow

Thursday night saw the celebration of another batch of new Australian citizens.

It was a good night with the band in a new configuration on the stage.  Being much further forward the band's sounds seemed to project much more clearly into the wonderful Malvern town hall.

The night also saw the maiden voyage of the newly acquired conductors platform.  This recent purchase comes complete with special safety rail to protect our music director from an undignified unplanned stage exit.  The platform is light weight, has wheels so it easy to transpire.  From all accounts its first outing was a success. God bless all who sail in her.

At the end of the evening we all pitched in with the packing up and it seemed as though we were following the percussion section to the party pies and sandwiches in no time.

First meeting of the new committee

Published Date Written by Bradley Stow

As usual the committee on first Thursday of the month to discuss the goings on with our band.  However this meeting was with the first with new look committee you elected at the AGM.

Notwithstanding a couple of apologies everyone was there and eager to get into managing the business of the band.  Wes Brown joined us in an observational capacity and was quite welcome as he was able to provide guidance and advice on a number of key issues.

Two and a half hours later we came to the end of a massive agenda.  All of us were feeling pretty exhausted but pretty satisfied with the many items we had discussed and made decisions on.

Next committee meeting is not until february so if you have anything you would like discuss please let Elain or Cathrine know and they will be put on the agenda.
