Many thanks to the 29 members who marched in Melbourne today. Perfect weather and a great job done by all. The Roulettes added to the morning, flying overhead as we made our way down St Kilda Rd.
Special thanks to Peter Robb, who has marched with us on ANZAC Day for over 20 years!
Well done to Madeline and Luca, who did a great job on their first marching job.
Thanks to Russ and his family who helped with carrying of spare music, etc. Russ even lent his hat to a forgetful someone.....
Finally thanks to Anne Somerville who has done 2 bugle jobs this week, one for Months Rotary's School Service and one at St Vincent's Hospital, and also to Eugene Wheelahan, who played at the East Malvern RSL this morning for their large Dawn Service, before coming in to Melbourne.
No pre-ANZAC day service at either East Malvern or Prahan RSLs this year as the Sunday before ANZAC Day is Easter Sunday.

We are currently preparing for our next concert BRASS WITH A BEAT! which will be held at the Malvern Town Hall on Sunday 19th May, commencing at 4.00pm.This will be part of Stonnington Jazz 2013, which runs from 16th to 26th May, and presents a wide range of musicians in a variety of venues in the City of Stonnington.
Our concert will feature two special guest artists.
Brian Abrahams was born in South Africa. He started out as a jazz drummer and singer, and progressed to accompany the likes of Sarah Vaughan. He moved to the UK in 2007 and gained recognition there. Locally he has performed at Dizzy's Jazz Club with his own jazz band.
Our other guest is vocalist Mark Stucas, who has performed in bands and done solo gigs around Melbourne. Mark returns to perform some great jazz numbers with the band, after being very well-received at our jazz concert last year.
With music ranging from Ted Huggens' popular 'Fascinating Drums', to a touch of Scott Joplin, Duke Ellington and Glenn Miller, this afternoon will offer something for everyone.
Tickets are $18 Adult and $15 Concession and can be purchased through Chapel Off Chapel by phoning 8290 7000, or online at www.stonningtonjazz.com.au
Round up your friends, buy a drink at the bar, and enjoy a great afternoon's entertainment.
We hope to see you there.

Thursday night saw the celebration of another batch of new Australian citizens.
It was a good night with the band in a new configuration on the stage. Being much further forward the band's sounds seemed to project much more clearly into the wonderful Malvern town hall.
The night also saw the maiden voyage of the newly acquired conductors platform. This recent purchase comes complete with special safety rail to protect our music director from an undignified unplanned stage exit. The platform is light weight, has wheels so it easy to transpire. From all accounts its first outing was a success. God bless all who sail in her.
At the end of the evening we all pitched in with the packing up and it seemed as though we were following the percussion section to the party pies and sandwiches in no time.
